"L’ENTREPRENANT MONSIEUR MÉGEVET"
1874-1932
Continuing its project to promote Genevan industry from the beginning of the 20th century, the MJVP1909 Foundation has published a book on the life of the Genevan entrepreneur called Jules Mégevet.
The latter is the founder of Corsier-Port Shipyard in 1909. He built the historic building of the current shipyard which still houses his workshops today and which has become an essential landmark for Lake Léman sailors.
This visionary and daring industrialist, specializing in tinsmithing, invested very early in the development of automobiles, boating and aviation in Switzerland and particularly in Geneva. He participates, among other things, in the creation of several Swiss operations still anchored in the Swiss landscape such as: the ACS, the TCS, the Geneva Motor Show.
Daniel Charles, the author of “The Enterprising Monsieur Mégevet », is a doctor of history, naval architect, award-winning author, passionate, curious and amused. Here he signs his 49th book and his first with the MJVP1909 Foundation from the series on "Engineers & Ingenious Genevan". A significant collection of documents and iconographies scattered throughout Switzerland and France was necessary to reconstruct the extraordinary life of this multi-disciplinary Genevan.
